WHO Reports 4,242 Ebola Deaths and 8,787 Cases in DR Congo
The World Health Organization says the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 8,787 cases, including 4,242 confirmed deaths, as of October 7. The agency said 2,292 people had recovered, while nearly 11,300 patients, survivors, families and frontline health workers had received mental health and psychosocial support. WHO warned that many survivors face anxiety, stigma, social isolation and financial hardship after treatment. It said trained community workers and psychologists in Ituri Province were providing counselling, follow-up care and support for reintegration into their communities.
