Benue Woman Arrested After Allegedly Burning Boyfriend’s Young Daughters to Death
The Benue State Police have taken into custody Mbalumen Ikyenge after a fire broke out at the home of her boyfriend, Aondoyima Ierkwagh, in Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA. The blaze claimed the lives of his two daughters, aged four and six. Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, confirmed investigators received an emergency call from the girls’ father reporting that someone had set the house ablaze. The police say the motive is still under investigation, though neighbors point to a relationship dispute. Witnesses say the suspect visited her boyfriend’s home on the night of July 5 and was asked to leave. Believing another woman was inside, she allegedly set fire to the hut where the children were sleeping. Neighbors rescued the girls and rushed them to a hospital, but both later died from severe burns.
