Ondo Court Remands Three for Selling Two Teenage Boys for ₦18,000 Each
An Akure Magistrate’s Court has remanded three suspects accused of trafficking two teenage boys from Ondo to Edo State. The boys, then aged 14 and 15, were lured from a riverbank in Ute with a false promise and moved overnight to Benin City. Court documents say the victims were sold for ₦18,000 each to a relative and forced into street hawking. After four months in captivity, they were separated, sold again for ₦76,000 and held until the police, following a ransom payment of ₦10,000 from their parents, rescued them. The defendants face charges under Sections 369 and 362 of the Ondo State Criminal Code for child trafficking, abduction and slavery-related offences. All pleaded not guilty. They were remanded at Ondo City Correctional Centre, and the case will continue in the Family Magistrate Court on August 4, 2026.
