Adeleke Alleges Planned Arrests of Accord Leaders Could Affect Osun Election
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has alleged that plans to arrest Accord Party leaders before the forthcoming election would amount to police support for the APC. At an emergency briefing, Adeleke said he received reports of a directive to arrest party leaders, move them to Abuja and detain them until Monday. He said he had contacted the Inspector-General of Police and asked the police to clarify the alleged order. The governor also claimed that more than 62 Accord Party leaders were being held without charge. He called for an investigation into a viral video allegedly involving Senator Francis Fadahunsi and urged security agencies to remain neutral and operate within the law before, during and after the election.
