Lampard Hails Awoniyi After Goal and Assist on Coventry Debut Start
Taiwo Awoniyi scored and provided an assist on his first start for Coventry City as they beat Plymouth 4-2 in the Carabao Cup second round. The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in the third minute before setting up Jack Rudoni two minutes later. Plymouth fought back to level the match, but Coventry regained control through Ephron Mason-Clark and a Victor Torp penalty. Frank Lampard said Awoniyi is still building match fitness after limited action before joining the club. The Coventry manager praised the striker’s impact, saying his goal and assist showed the qualities the club signed him for.
