At a wedding I attended last Saturday, the bride and her elder sister got into a heated argument over how food was being shared. I had not eaten, so I went towards the cooking area. The bride’s mother recognised me, asked after my mum and immediately told the caterers to serve me food. I felt very important for a moment. Soon after, the bride came in angrily, complaining that her guests had not been served. Her elder sister told her to calm down, but the argument quickly became intense and almost turned into a fight. I quietly collected my generous plate of rice and chicken and left before the tension affected my food.
