INEC to Publish Tinubu, Atiku, Obi and Other 2027 Candidates’ Particulars Saturday

INEC is scheduled to publish the personal particulars of President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and other candidates contesting the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday. The publication will cover candidates for the presidency, Senate and House of Representatives across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. INEC says the process is required by law and is intended to allow public scrutiny of information submitted by candidates. Under Section 29 of the Electoral Act, members of the public may apply for certified copies of candidates’ nomination forms, affidavits and other submitted documents after paying the prescribed fee. Aspirants who took part in party primaries may also challenge alleged false qualification claims at the Federal High Court. INEC’s timetable says campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will start later.

Public access matters, but candidate particulars alone will not answer the bigger questions voters usually have about plans and credibility.

Interested voters should review the published particulars carefully and compare candidates across the different offices before forming conclusions.
