Anambra Residents Urged to Take Heatwave Precautions
Anambra State’s First Lady, Nonye Soludo, has advised residents to take precautions as temperatures rise across the state. She urged families to drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, wear light clothing and keep their homes well ventilated. Outdoor workers and traders were also advised to take regular breaks in shaded areas. Residents were encouraged to pay special attention to children, older persons, pregnant women and people living with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes or kidney disease. Anyone showing signs of severe heat illness should be moved to a cool place and taken for urgent medical care. The state’s emergency line is 112.
