Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme won the men’s 100m gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, setting a Games record of 9.83 seconds in difficult rainy conditions. The performance broke Ato Boldon’s previous Commonwealth Games record of 9.88 seconds, set in 1998. Eseme also set a new Cameroonian national record and moved into third place on the all-time African 100m rankings. Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy claimed silver in 9.85 seconds, while Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi took bronze in 9.90 seconds. Four athletes went under 10 seconds in what was described as the fastest Commonwealth Games 100m final in history. Eseme, who switched from football to sprinting at age 24, ended Cameroon’s 20-year wait for a Commonwealth track title.
