Kidnappers Allegedly Demanded ₦4m After Seeing Victim’s AI Photo as a Doctor

A survivor of the September abduction of 12 travellers heading to the NYSC orientation camp in Akure has said kidnappers demanded the highest ransom from one victim after seeing an AI-edited photo of him dressed as a doctor. The travellers were reportedly seized at Ibillo in Edo State and held in a forest for nine days. The survivor said the kidnappers believed the man was a medical doctor and demanded ₦4 million for his release. Families of other victims reportedly paid varying amounts, including ₦1.2 million, ₦1.6 million and ₦2 million. The account highlights how AI-generated images can create misleading impressions with serious consequences.
