UNIZIK Suspends Lecturer for Three Months as Sexual Harassment Probe Continues

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has suspended Prof. Ifeanyi Sunny Odinye of the Department of Chinese Studies for three months following a preliminary investigation into allegations involving a student. The panel found that Odinye failed to formally report an alleged examination misconduct case and returned a phone recovered from the student on the same day, contrary to the university’s regulations. The university said its investigation is still ongoing. The panel will also determine whether sexual harassment, assault and kidnapping occurred before submitting its final recommendations, which could lead to further disciplinary or criminal action.
