Ex-Living Faith Pastor Alleges He Was Left Without Support After Dismissal
An ex-Living Faith pastor who contacted me says he felt used and was not adequately supported after he was dismissed. He claims his wife was pregnant at the time, that the family lost their possessions, and that they are still struggling to rebuild their lives. His account recalls the 2021 controversy in Ekiti, where reports said more than 40 pastors were released after their churches allegedly fell below growth expectations. One affected pastor publicly challenged the decision, while Bishop David Oyedepo described the affected ministers as unfruitful. I believe this raises a wider question for churches: should pastors be assessed like branch managers expected to meet financial, attendance or growth targets? Scriptures such as 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1 and 1 Peter 5 emphasise character, sound doctrine, teaching and care for the flock. Churches need resources to support ministry and evangelism, but ministers and congregations should not be reduced to revenue figures. When a pastor is removed, religious organisations should also consider the welfare of the minister and their family.
