Anambra Traders Sports Competition Opens With 104 Markets in Men’s Football
The 2026 Anambra Traders Sports Competition begins on September 13, with 104 markets set to compete in the men’s football event. The tournament is organised by the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association. Preliminary matches will hold across the Aguata, Awka, Idemili, Nnewi, Ogbaru, Onitsha and Oyi market zones. Other events include women’s football, draughts, ncho, tennis and table tennis. Registered market participants must present ASMATA identity cards and pass medical fitness checks before playing. Organisers say the competition is compulsory for registered markets and is intended to promote traders’ health, interaction, unity and fair play. Winners will receive prizes at the end of the competition.
