D’Tigress Unveil 12-Player Squad for 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup
D’Tigress coach Rena Wakama has named Nigeria’s final 12-player squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin. Amy Okonkwo will captain a team that combines experienced internationals with emerging talents. Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara, who were also part of Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup squad, are set to become the first Nigerians to play at two editions of the competition. Nigeria previously featured at the tournament in 2006 and 2018, when D’Tigress became the first African side to reach the quarter-finals. The reigning African champions are in Group B with France, Hungary and Korea Republic. They open their campaign against Korea Republic on September 4, followed by Hungary on September 5 and France on September 7. The squad includes Promise Amukamara, Jordan Obi, Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, Pallas Kunaiyi, Rita Igbokwe, Victoria Macaulay, Ezinne Kalu, Shay Ijiwoye, Nicole Enabosi, Amy Okonkwo and Grace Efosa.
