Oshimili Residents Petition ICPC Over ₦18bn Development Fund Diversion
Hon. Innocent Esewezie, Chairman of Oshimili Local Government in Delta State, is under investigation after indigenes and residents filed a petition with the ICPC. They accuse him of diverting more than ₦18 billion meant for roads, schools, healthcare centres and other vital projects. According to the petition, Oshimili LGA received about ₦500 million monthly from FAAC between 2021 and 2026. Yet communities still face deteriorating infrastructure, abandoned facilities and poor social services. The petitioners are urging the ICPC to subpoena FAAC allocation records, freeze suspect council accounts and interrogate officials. They cite alleged breaches of anti-money laundering laws and say they are ready to provide evidence under oath.
