INEC Adds SDP Candidate to Osun Governorship Election Ballot

INEC has added the Social Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Dr Francis Olugbenga Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Babajimi Oladipo, to the ballot for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 15 August 2026. The commission said the decision follows a Federal High Court judgment delivered in Abuja on 22 July 2026. The court directed INEC to recognise, process and publish Ajala’s candidacy for the SDP. INEC said ballot papers and result sheets are being reproduced to reflect the SDP ticket, raising the number of parties contesting the election to 15. The new materials are expected in Osun on 13 August before distribution to local government offices.
