Psalm 127: Building, Work, Rest and the Blessing of Children
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, its guards watch in vain. The psalm teaches that human effort needs God’s guidance. It also reminds us that rest is a gift from God, not something to be neglected in the pursuit of daily bread. Children are described as a heritage and reward from the Lord, like arrows in the hands of a warrior. Blessed is the person whose family is strengthened by them.
