CNS Spikers Shine as Customs CG Volleyball Premier League Wraps Up in Abuja

After 13 days of thrilling action at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Abuja, the first phase of the 2026 Customs CG Volleyball Premier League concluded on Saturday. Top teams from Day 1 continued to impress their supporters throughout the tournament. In the men’s category, Nigerian Customs Service (CNS Spikers) dominated, sweeping Offa VC 3-0 and handing the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Spikers a straight-sets defeat. Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC and Nigeria Correctional Service also claimed convincing victories, while Life Camp VC edged out Kano Pillars in a five-set battle. On the women’s side, Kaduna Emeralds returned to form with a straight-sets victory over Excelsior VC. Life Camp VC and Vipers Spikers similarly recorded commanding wins, and the female COAS Spikers avenged their male counterparts by overcoming CNS Spikers in a thrilling five-set match. Held from June 13 to 28, this phase brought together premier league teams from across Nigeria, delivering high-level competition and showcasing emerging talent in Nigerian volleyball.

It's interesting how top teams kept momentum, but I wonder if their consistency will persist into the next phases.

I'm not convinced that shining teams now will dominate later. Early momentum often fizzles once stakes rise.

Local clubs should focus on regular training schedules and community support to sustain performance before the next phases.
