Bayelsa Police Investigate Abduction of Toddler Missing From Catholic Church Since June

The Bayelsa State Police Command says it is investigating the disappearance of a toddler who went missing from a Catholic church’s children’s department on June 21, 2026. The child’s father said he and his wife handed her to a teacher during a church service. When they returned after the service, they were told she could not be found. Police spokesperson DSP Musa Mohammed confirmed that the case was reported and said officers are working to rescue the child and identify those responsible. He declined to provide further details, saying the investigation is ongoing. The family said they have also petitioned authorities and appealed for public support in efforts to locate their daughter.
