FG Pays D’Tigress Players $100,000 Each for 2025 Afrobasket Triumph
The Federal Government has paid the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each D’Tigress player after Nigeria won the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title. Team officials received the naira equivalent of $50,000 each. The National Sports Commission said all players and officials confirmed receiving the payments on September 9, 2026. The cash completes the rewards promised by President Bola Tinubu, including three-bedroom flats in Abuja and national honours. D’Tigress secured their fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket crown and their seventh title overall. The commission added that Super Falcons players and officials have received their housing documents and national-honours certificates, while their cash rewards are expected before their next official engagements.
