Finidi Hails Rivers United’s Strong Start After 2-0 Win Over Plateau United
Rivers United technical manager Finidi George says his side showed improved attacking and defensive quality in their 2-0 victory over Plateau United on the opening day of the 2026/27 NPFL season in Port Harcourt. Finidi said the team created several chances after scoring twice early and defended well to protect the clean sheet. He added that Rivers United will keep improving as the season progresses. The former Super Eagles winger also praised the club’s recruitment, saying the new squad is younger and stronger than last season’s. Rivers United will next travel to Côte d’Ivoire to face FC San Pedro in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
