Oba of Benin Honours Oluremi Tinubu With Royal Ikele Coral Beads
The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has decorated First Lady Oluremi Tinubu with the revered Benin royal coral beads known as Ikele during her visit to the palace in Benin City. Mrs Tinubu is the first Nigerian First Lady to receive the honour. The beads are regarded as a symbol of welcome and appreciation, and have previously been bestowed on retired Edo Chief Judge Justice Esohe Ikponmwen and former NTA Benin zonal director Pauline Igbanor. The visit formed part of Mrs Tinubu’s trip to Edo State, where she also attended activities linked to the state government's CNG bus programme. She said her Renewed Hope Initiative would continue partnering with rural women and traditional institutions across Nigeria.
