Ifá Practitioner Urges Tinubu to Grant Equal Recognition to Traditional Religion
I am urging President Bola Tinubu to ensure equal recognition and lawful consideration for practitioners of Ifá, Isese and other indigenous traditional religions. I argue that constitutional freedom of religion should apply fairly to all faith communities. I also call for support for communal worship and cultural centres that can preserve indigenous heritage, languages and traditional knowledge. The letter further asks for government-backed research and regulation of traditional medicine. I believe this could support healthcare, local pharmaceutical innovation, jobs, cultural tourism and scientific study of medicinal plants.
