Sanusi Bala Turaki Emerges Unopposed as PDP Senatorial Candidate for Zamfara Central

Sanusi Bala Turaki Emerges Unopposed as PDP Senatorial Candidate for Zamfara Central

The PDP in Zamfara State held its senatorial primary on May 20 at the party secretariat in Lalan Gusau. Dr. Sanusi Bala Turaki received unanimous endorsement as the zone’s consensus candidate without any opposition. Delegates from Gusau, Tsafe, Maru and Bungudu LGAs, joined by officials from Abuja led by Alhaji Ibrahim Dogara, supervised the smooth affirmation process. Their collective backing underscored the party’s focus on unity ahead of the general election. Turaki expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him, describing the outcome as both an honour and a call to responsibility. He pledged to deliver effective representation, prioritise grassroots engagement and bring democratic dividends to Zamfara Central. PDP supervisors said the unopposed primary reflects strong internal cohesion. They urged Turaki to use his campaign to further unite the party and reach voters beyond party lines as the general election approaches.

Sure, his unopposed emergence sounds impressive, but we can't ignore how it sidelines potential fresh voices in Zamfara Central.

The PDP's consensus approach here seems less about competition and more about internal agreements before the primary even began.

E be like say no oponent step forward to challenge him, making me wonder if grassroots voices actually had any space in this process.

Local party members should now focus on holding their candidate accountable by setting clear campaign milestones and community engagement plans.
