Taiwo Awoniyi Names Rashidi Yekini, Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba as His Football Heroes
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has named late Nigerian great Rashidi Yekini, Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba as the footballers who inspired him growing up. Awoniyi shared his choices during a light-hearted get-to-know-you session with fellow Nigerian international Frank Onyeka at Coventry City. He said watching clips of the three legendary forwards shaped his love for the game. Yekini remains Nigeria’s first scorer at the FIFA World Cup, while Henry and Drogba became iconic figures for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively. Awoniyi will hope to draw on that inspiration as he begins a new chapter with Coventry in the Premier League.
