LASBCA Urges Building Professionals to Work Together to Prevent Collapses in Lagos

The Lagos State Building Control Agency has urged architects, engineers, planners, regulators and residents to work together to prevent building collapses across the state. At a building safety conference in Satellite Town, LASBCA General Manager Gbaye Florence said every professional involved in construction must stay within their area of expertise. She warned against situations where one practitioner takes on technical roles meant for other specialists. She said developers should engage qualified professionals from planning through construction, while communities should promptly report distressed buildings to the authorities. Speakers at the event linked the call for stronger collaboration to the fatal four-storey building collapse on Ladipo Street, Satellite Town, in June 2026.
