Osun DSS Urges Online Journalists to Tackle Misinformation, Illegal Mining and Motor Park Takeovers
The Osun State Director of the Department of State Services, Victor Okon Edet, has called on online journalists to strengthen fact-checking, avoid amplifying criminals and operate within the law. Edet spoke when leaders of the Osun NUJ Online Media Chapel visited the DSS command in Osogbo. He said closer cooperation between security agencies and responsible journalists could help rebuild public trust and improve public safety. He urged the chapel to investigate illegal mining and reported forceful takeovers of motor parks in the state. He also called for proper registration of online media practitioners and warned against cyberbullying and harassment disguised as journalism. The chapel said it was working to promote ethical reporting, curb misinformation and improve accountability among online publishers in Osun State.
