Armed Attack Kills Female Farmer, Injures Another in Plateau Farming Community
Gunmen opened fire on farmers at about 3:50 pm on Saturday, July 4, in Rinyan village, Tahoss community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. A 40-year-old farmer, Hudung Luka, was shot dead on the spot. Another woman, 50-year-old Ladi Istifanus, was seriously injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. Community member Bulus Rop described the shooting as another tragic strike on rural residents. He urged security agencies to step up patrols and protect those working on the land. Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators. As of filing, the Plateau State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
