FRSC Warns Motorists as Multiple Crashes Cause Heavy Gridlock on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps has advised motorists heading through the Kara bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to take alternative routes after multiple crashes left the road badly blocked. FRSC said rescue teams and other emergency agencies have been working since early Friday to clear the gridlock and restore traffic flow at the Kara-Ojodu Berger corridor. According to the corps, the first crash happened around 12:05 a.m. on the outbound lane toward Ibadan and involved five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna. One person died, one person was injured, and five others escaped unhurt. A second crash later occurred on the inbound lane toward Lagos, involving a Mazda commercial bus. The driver was seriously injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Motorists are being urged to use other routes where possible and to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before travelling.
