Rangers Held at Home as El-Kanemi Thrash UDIB in CAF First Legs

Rangers International were held to a 1-1 draw by Benin Republic's AS SOBEMAP in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie in Abeokuta. Rangers took the lead through Chidozie, but Emmanuel Ali equalised for the visitors. The NPFL champions must now get a result in Benin Republic on September 11 to keep their Champions League campaign alive. In the CAF Confederation Cup, El-Kanemi Warriors put themselves in a strong position with a 3-0 win over Guinea-Bissau side UDIB in Ikenne. The Maiduguri club scored three times in the second half and will take a comfortable advantage into the return leg. Elsewhere, Shooting Stars beat CS Sfaxien 1-0, while Rivers United drew with San Pedro in their Champions League fixture in Ivory Coast.
