Abuja Court Adjourns NAPS’ Tax Suit, Urges Dialogue with FCTA and AMAC
A Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has adjourned the case filed by the National Association of Private School Owners (NAPS) to April 16, 2026. The court advised NAPS, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) to pursue an amicable settlement through dialogue. It stressed the importance of restraint and constructive engagement. NAPS is challenging overlapping tax demands imposed on private schools by both the FCTA and AMAC. Counsel Alexander N. Ogbo said the dual levies disrupt school operations and create confusion, calling for harmonised regulatory responsibilities. NAPS President Rukayat Agboola urged the creation of a single regulatory channel to streamline directives. The association is seeking a court order to halt multiple taxation and ensure clear oversight.
