Super Falcons Miss 2027 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria Loses $2.5m FIFA Prize Money
Nigeria will miss the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after the Super Falcons failed to qualify, ending their record of appearing at every previous edition of the tournament. The setback comes after the team won a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in 2025. Nigeria is also set to miss out on an estimated $2.5 million in World Cup prize money. The NFF has asked head coach Justine Madugu and his technical crew to step down. It has also set up a fact-finding committee to review the qualification failure and wider challenges facing Nigeria’s national teams.
