Lamine Yamal Backs Pau Cubarsí for 2026 Kopa Trophy
Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has tipped teammate Pau Cubarsí to win the 2026 Kopa Trophy, the Ballon d’Or award for the world’s best player under 21. Both Barcelona stars are among the 10 nominees. Yamal declared his support for the 19-year-old defender in a social-media post, saying Cubarsí is the only deserving winner. Cubarsí helped Barcelona win the league title in the 2025-26 season and was named Young Player of the Tournament after Spain’s World Cup triumph. The Kopa Trophy winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on October 26.
