Four Years After Moving to the UK, Here Is What Japa Taught Me
Four years ago, I left Nigeria for the UK with hope, dreams and plenty of uncertainty. I thought life would automatically become easier, but I soon learned that changing countries does not instantly change everything. The move gave me opportunities, peace of mind and a greater sense of security. Still, I sometimes miss the Nigeria I once complained about. I also wonder whether I would make the same decision if I knew then what I know now. I would not tell everyone to leave Nigeria or to stay. My biggest advice is to understand why you are leaving before you go. Japa can change your location, but you still have to build the life you want. If you have moved abroad, would you make the same choice again? What is the biggest lesson you have learned?
