Nigerian Sentenced to 24 Years in Liberia for Cocaine Trafficking
A Liberian court has sentenced Nigerian national John Chimezie Mba to 24 years in prison without parole after he pleaded guilty to cocaine trafficking offences. The Fifth Judicial Circuit Court imposed consecutive sentences of 10 years for unlicensed possession of controlled drugs, seven years for transportation and sale, and seven years for illicit trafficking. Liberian drug enforcement officers said Mba was stopped at the Bo Waterside border post while attempting to enter the country. Authorities said they recovered 66 tubes of cocaine after he complained of stomach pain in detention. He is expected to be deported to Nigeria after serving his sentence.
