Kaduna Villagers Freed After Four Months and N40m Ransom; Two Killed in Captivity
Bandits attacked Gidan Waya community in Lere LGA, Kaduna State on November 11, 2025. They killed four residents and abducted 13 villagers—five men and eight women. The community sold over 3,000 bags of maize to raise the N40 million demanded by the kidnappers. Despite the initial payment, the hostages were not released and the bandits demanded additional funds. On March 29, 2026, churches, families and community leaders pooled resources to secure the release of 11 captives. Tragically, two victims, Mallam Ibrahim Bagobari and Mr. Habib, were killed while in captivity. Elders thanked God for the survivors and urged collaborators with bandits to repent. They called on authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and asked Nigerians to continue praying for healing and protection.
