Lagos Begins Stakeholder Talks on Ikotun Junction Upgrade to Tackle Gridlock

The Lagos State Government has begun stakeholder engagement on proposed improvement works at Ikotun Junction, covering the intersection of Ijegun, Isolo and Idimu roads. The project is intended to ease traffic, improve road connectivity and make movement safer for residents and businesses. Officials said roadside trading, unregulated commercial activities and refuse on the roads have worsened the long-running gridlock in the area. The proposed intervention will also address how informal commercial spaces can be properly managed after the project is completed. The government said people whose properties or legitimate interests are affected will be compensated in line with applicable policies. Community leaders and traditional rulers welcomed the plan and pledged to support its implementation.
