Truck Explosion in Adazi-Ani Claims Three Lives, Injures Four
The Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State confirmed a fatal crash on Friday, July 17, 2026 at about 10:30 a.m. The incident happened near St. Jude Anglican Church on the Nnobi-Agulu-Awka Road. Preliminary findings show a Mercedes-Benz 608 commercial truck suffered a mechanical failure, caught fire and somersaulted into a roadside barricade. Seven male occupants were on board. Three died at the scene and four were seriously injured. Rescue teams arrived within minutes, diverted traffic and cleared the wreck. The Sector Commander expressed condolences to the victims’ families and urged all drivers—especially those operating heavy vehicles—to maintain their vehicles properly and avoid carrying flammable materials unsafely.
