World Ifa Temple Project Takes Shape in Ile-Ife

Plans are underway for the World Ifa Temple in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The project is being developed on three acres of land reportedly donated by the Ooni of Ife to the International Council for Ifa Religion. The proposed complex will include an assembly pavilion, devotional altars, an education and research wing, and reception facilities for visiting worshippers and tourists. Organisers say it is intended to serve Ifa and Orisha devotees from Nigeria and the diaspora. Funding is expected to come from donations, cultural preservation grants, and fundraising by Ifa and Orisha communities in Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, and Europe. Site clearing has reportedly been completed, while construction will proceed in phases as funds become available. Supporters see the temple as a major centre for preserving Yoruba traditional religion, history, and cultural education.
