Suspected Boko Haram Attack Kills Police Inspector, Civilians in Adamawa
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Gaya community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State on the night of August 17, 2026, killing a police inspector and civilians. The council chairman, Aliyu Saad, said the attackers set two houses ablaze and killed eight people. However, the Adamawa State Police Command initially confirmed the recovery of five bodies: four civilians and one police inspector. Security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, hunters and vigilante groups, have been deployed to trace the attackers. Authorities say further updates will be provided as operations continue.
