FIFA Faces Questions Over Reported £1.3m Payment to Gianni Infantino
FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing fresh scrutiny after reports that he received an additional £1.3 million in 2024 from FWC2026, the company set up to organise the World Cup. FIFA’s 2024 annual report listed Infantino’s compensation at £3.88 million. However, US tax filings reportedly show the separate payment from FWC2026 was not included in the report. FIFA statutes require the compensation of its president, council members and secretary general to be made public. A FIFA spokesperson denied that Infantino received a second salary and said the organisation complies with all compensation disclosure requirements. The report said FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom did not receive an additional payment from FWC2026.
