NSCDC Arrests Ilorin POS Operator Over Alleged Assault of 14-Year-Old Girl
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 36-year-old Point-of-Sale operator in Ilorin over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. The arrest followed a complaint by the girl's father to the command's Gender Unit. Investigators alleged that the suspect repeatedly lured the girl to his shop and an uncompleted building, where the assaults reportedly occurred. The girl also alleged that she was threatened with death if she spoke about the incidents and was once given a herbal drink that left her weak and disoriented. The NSCDC said she has undergone medical examination and that the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded. The command urged parents and guardians to maintain open communication with children and promptly report suspected abuse to security agencies.
