Gwagwalada Council Speaker and Aide Killed in Head-On Collision on Abuja-Lokoja Highway
Hon. Mohammed Ibrahim Ibwa, Speaker of the Gwagwalada Area Council Legislative Arm, and his aide Ibrahim Ibwa died in a head-on crash at Sheda village on the Abuja-Lokoja highway. The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday when their Mercedes-Benz collided with a Sino truck. The aide died instantly at the scene. The Speaker was first treated at Legend Hospital in Gwagwalada before being transferred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he passed away early Thursday. A Federal Road Safety Corps official confirmed one fatality on site and two others rushed to hospital. The third passenger survives and remains under medical care. The late Speaker was buried according to Islamic rites in his Ibwa community. Leading figures at the funeral included the chairman-elect of the council, a former council chairman, and other prominent politicians.
