Wife Allegedly Used Hidden Cameras to Steal £180 Million in Bitcoin

Wife Allegedly Used Hidden Cameras to Steal £180 Million in Bitcoin

Ping Fai Yuen is suing his wife, Fun Yung Li, and her sister for allegedly stealing 2,323 Bitcoin worth £160–180 million. He claims Li secretly installed CCTV cameras in their Brighton home to record his PIN and cold-wallet seed phrase. Yuen says he first learned of the plot in July 2023 when his daughter voiced suspicions. He then set up audio recorders that captured Li admitting she had transferred the cryptocurrency to multiple blockchain addresses. At a High Court hearing, Mr Justice Cotter found Yuen showed “a very high probability of success.” Police seized ten cold wallets and recovery seeds but paused action pending new evidence. Yuen now seeks the return of his Bitcoin or equivalent value and a freezing order on Li’s crypto assets.
