Nigeria Confirms Ebola Case in Abuja as Patient Is Identified as Diplomat’s Wife
Nigeria has confirmed an Ebola case in Abuja involving a 42-year-old Ugandan-born woman who is the wife of a Swiss diplomat. She reportedly tested positive on 20 October after spending about a week at a private clinic with symptoms. The woman and her husband had travelled to Uganda earlier in the month. Her husband is in isolation and has not developed symptoms, while health officials are still investigating how she became infected. The Swiss embassy remains open after consultations with Nigeria’s health authorities and the World Health Organization. The patient is receiving treatment in isolation and is said to be showing signs of improvement.
