Semi Ajayi Misses Premier League Matchweek Award Despite Hull Heroics Against Man United
Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has missed out on the Premier League Player of the Matchweek award after an impressive display in Hull City's 2-0 win over Manchester United. Ajayi scored Hull's opening goal in the 17th minute after a corner was not cleared. He also helped the newly promoted side keep a clean sheet before being substituted in the 64th minute with a reported hamstring concern. The Nigerian defender was nominated alongside Cole Palmer, Rayan Cherki, Jack Hinshelwood, Mamadou Sangare, Julio Enciso and Anton Stach. Palmer won the fans' vote after contributing a goal and an assist in Chelsea's 3-2 victory over Fulham. Although Ajayi missed the award, his goal, defensive performance and nomination marked a strong start to the new Premier League season.
