LASU Students Host Tax Literacy Webinar on Public Revenue and Accountability

Three Lagos State University students hosted the maiden Tax Student Tax Literacy Webinar on September 26, 2026. The virtual session focused on helping students and young professionals understand taxation and ask how public revenue is used. Speakers explained how taxes move from collection into government budgets for areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, debt servicing and social programmes. They also discussed the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, tax categories and the effects of non-compliance. Participants asked questions about tax filing for students, small-business exemptions and the implications of the new tax framework for young entrepreneurs. The organisers said the initiative will continue to make tax education simpler and more accessible to young Nigerians.
