ONSA Urges Vigilance as Security Operations Target Terror Groups
The Office of the National Security Adviser has urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions over possible security threats in some locations. ONSA said the advisory followed sustained military operations, intelligence gathering and threat monitoring across the North-East, North-West and North-Central. The operations have reportedly disrupted terrorist and bandit camps and neutralised several commanders, including ISWAP commander Abubakar Mainok, also known as Abu Bilal al-Minuki. The agency warned that criminal groups may attempt isolated attacks to create fear or attract attention. Residents were advised to report suspicious people, vehicles, objects and movements to security agencies, while avoiding the spread of unverified information. ONSA also called on state and local authorities to strengthen community vigilance and information-sharing. It assured citizens, foreign nationals and development partners that the government remains focused on protecting lives and property.
