Meat Price Rises to ₦10,000 Per Kilogram in Lagos
A kilogram of meat now sells for between ₦9,000 and ₦10,000 in Lagos, up from ₦7,000 to ₦7,500 about four months ago. The Lagos State Butchers Association linked the increase to foreign-exchange fluctuations, higher transport costs and losses incurred while moving cattle to markets. The association said the cost of buying cattle has also risen, partly because some dealers source livestock from neighbouring countries.
