Bwala Turns Down Al Jazeera’s Private Apology, Files Defamation Suit in UK

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, says Al Jazeera privately apologised over a contentious interview but refused to make the apology public. Speaking on The Morayo Show, Bwala explained that the broadcaster acknowledged it should have warned him about its focus on his past criticisms of President Tinubu. He declined the private apology and insisted it be posted on social media, which Al Jazeera declined for fear of harming its credibility. Bwala has now instructed lawyers in England to pursue defamation claims. He alleges that the interview was edited to remove context, giving the false impression that he denied earlier statements rather than clarifying agreed discussion topics. The case is currently before a UK court.
